Dr Matthew Hagger

Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist

Dr Matt Hagger has many years of experience preparing medicolegal reports concerning the psychiatric and psychological impacts of personal injury as well as opining on standards of care in mental health services and causation of acute confusion. He also frequently undertakes mental capacity assessments including assessment of testamentary capacity both for instructing solicitors and in his day to day NHS work.


Dr Hagger is a member of The Royal College of Psychiatrists and is dual trained in both older adults and younger adults psychiatry. He works as a Consultant Psychiatrist at the Royal Free Hospital in London and has specialist expertise in liaison psychiatry.  He specialises in assessment of mental capacity and psychiatric assessments of older people in the acute medical setting as well as in the community. He is also a Section 12 accredited doctor and is a mental health assessor for DOLS (Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards).
